Syria has been in a civil war since 2011, meaning the whole country is in a state of chaos. Death and poverty is abundant, and Syria’s basic democracy is trying to fix a situation broken beyond repair. The nation is trying to control its citizens, but in doing this, they are sacrificing the safety of the people. The Syrian government is using its money to pay for defense systems and security checkpoints so that crime is controlled. However, this safety comes at a cost, as poverty is common throughout the country’s population. Many Syrian citizens are running scarce on money and basic resources. The government also controls the nation by prohibiting opposition or rebellion against the laws and rules decided on by the government. This leads to violent protests and disagreements, which is unsafe. The purpose of the control is to keep the citizens safe, but this control brings harm to them while taking away certain rights. By controlling certain aspects of their country, Syria’s government is causing harm to the citizens, creating conflict between safety and control.
